Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Pricing can vary depending on the type of ceremony, location, and level of customization. A simple elopement will cost less than a fully personalized wedding with multiple planning meetings and custom writing. What’s important to know is that with me, you’re not just paying for someone to show up and speak—you’re investing in a thoughtful, meaningful experience tailored to your love story. I’m always transparent about pricing up front, and I’m happy to work with couples to find an option that fits their needs and budget.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
When I work with a new couple, it all starts with a conversation. I like to schedule a consultation—either in person or virtually—where we talk about your love story, your ceremony vision, and any ideas or traditions you’d like to include. From there, I start crafting a personalized ceremony script and check in along the way to make sure it feels just right. I also help with vow guidance, ceremony structure, and handling any license details if needed. On the big day, I show up early, calm the nerves, and deliver a heartfelt ceremony that feels authentic to you both.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am ordained through the Universal Life Church.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I’ve always believed that love is one of the most powerful forces in the world, and I’ve been drawn to the beauty and emotion of weddings for as long as I can remember. After attending a few ceremonies that felt impersonal or rushed, I realized there was a real need for someone who could bring warmth, intention, and personality to the role of officiant. That’s what inspired me to start Smooches—so I could help couples celebrate their love in a way that feels authentic, joyful, and truly unforgettable.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I’ve had the joy of working with a beautifully diverse range of couples—each with their own love story and vision for their big day. From traditional to non-traditional, big celebrations to intimate elopements, first-time weddings to vow renewals, I’ve worked with people from all walks of life. No matter the background, orientation, or style, I’m here to celebrate love in all its forms and make each ceremony feel personal, meaningful, and full of heart.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
One recent ceremony was a backyard wedding for a couple who had been together for a while. They wanted something personal, relaxed, and family-centered. We worked together over a few days to craft a ceremony that reflected their journey—full of humor, honesty, and love. From our first conversation to the big day, the whole process took about a week, and it was such a joy to watch it all come together.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
My biggest piece of advice is to find someone who really gets you—someone who takes the time to understand your relationship, your values, and your vision for the day. Your officiant sets the tone for your entire ceremony, so personality and connection matter just as much as experience. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, request a consultation, or even share your love story. A great officiant will listen, guide you through the process, and create something that feels truly you.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Before reaching out to an officiant, it helps to think about what kind of ceremony you want. Do you want something formal or laid-back? Religious, spiritual? Are there any personal touches—like readings, rituals, or special vows—you’d like included? Also, consider what tone you’re going for: romantic, fun, serious, or a mix. The more you know about your vision and values, the easier it will be to help bring it all to life in a meaningful way.
