What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
With Thumbtack, we are not giving the choice to call the clients. For that reason we have to introduce our self via email. I typically like to call the client first and introduce my self. Once the client gives me the opportunity to speak with him/her, I try to get to know them and get to know their love story. It is important for a wedding officiant to know how they felt in love. Then I go over the wedding details. How many guess, venue, wedding party, where they are staying. Try to help them feel more at ease. I go over the wedding ceremony. Do they want a civil ceremony, religious, non religious, inter faith and so on. I make sure to let them know that they have to apply for a marriage license. To make sure they bring the marriage license and id's the day of the wedding. I try to answer all their questions and concerns so they can feel comfortable and at ease the day of their wedding. I let them know that I will arrive early just to say hello to bride before the ceremony.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
First advise, you must feel comfortable with your wedding officiant. If you dont, dont hire them. This is one of the most important day of your life. Most first time brides are nervous. Your wedding officiant should give confident, and should be their for you in every step of the way. Second: Knowledge. Your wedding officiant you be a Certified Notary by the State in which they are performing the wedding. In another words, you cant get married in Florida and have a wedding officiant/notary from the state of New York. You will need a certified Notary from the State of Florida to notarized your marriage licenses, otherwise it will not be valid. They must tell you that you have to apply for your marriage license first. Both of you have to go to the courthouse and apply for a marriage license at least a month in at advance. Third: Ask all the questions. Dont worry if you think your question is dumb, I guarantee you that is best to ask all the questions before the wedding. Fourth: Most wedding officiant they show up and do the ceremony. But someone like me goes over all the details. How many in the bridal party, parents, who is walking you down the isle and so on. After the ceremony wedding officiant should ask, are we filling your marriage license or do you want to file yourself? If you are filling your marriage license you need to know that you have only 9 days from the day of the wedding to file your marriage license. Otherwise is not valid and you will have to get married again.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
