Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Basic fee for ceremony: $300 CEREMONY (This Fee includes consultation on script for ceremony and vows. I arrive 1 hr. prior to start and stay until all paperwork is completed afterward) $100 additional fee for attendance at Rehearsal. (Highly recommended. Usually requires substantially more time than actual ceremony!) Basic fees includes 100 miles roundtrip travel to wedding venue from my home in Slidell, LA. Total miles in excess of 100 total will be estimated by GPS data and charged at the rate of $0.66/mile. I will gladly make myself available for destination weddings, too. Additional travel expenses, licensing fees, etc. are dependent upon location and availability. All fees due in cash at rehearsal or day of ceremony.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I work very diligently with each couple to be sure they get the wedding they have dreamed of! Once we determine you are interested in my services, I will send a detailed letter describing my philosophy of marriage as well as a detailed questionnaire that I ask you to complete together. This allows me to get to know your situation somewhat intimately, and anticipate the type of ceremony that will be most meaningful to you. It addresses logistical issues (i.e, number of adults and children in bridal party) but also asks pretty intimate questions that allow me to both design a meaningful ceremony and anticipate any issues that might arise. Once you have returned the questionnaires to me, and we determine that I am the right person for your occasion, we will begin working, usually by email and phone, to design the perfect ceremony for your wedding! I am an extremely open-minded and non-judgmental lady, but I do reserve the right to decline if I feel strongly I am not the right person to perform your ceremony! My only non-negotiable requirements are that we incorporate into your ceremony (1) a statement that you intend to remain married for life, and (2) you allow me to publicly ask God's blessing upon your marriage.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Foremost, I have been married for 46 years! I have served as a Wedding Coordinator in the Wedding Ministry of the Episcopal Church. I have planned and hosted several weddings at my beautiful, rustic home on the bayou, and I have designed flowers for weddings for 20 years! Once I embarked on this path as an Officiant, I became convinced that it is the perfect calling for me! So far, my reviews have been great, and I LOVE what I do!

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Interesting story...I am a Realtor in my full-time work. I sold a lovely home to a young couple from out of town. We had a ball finding them the perfect home, and they subsequently became engaged and called me to see if I knew anyone who might officiate at their wedding. Since they knew so few folks, they had trouble finding someone who would get to know them, and so they approached me and asked me if I would become licensed and marry them! At first, I was shocked...but as I thought and said my prayers about it, it became clear that I was truly called to do it...and it was one of the best days of my life! ...the rest is history!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
A true people-lover, I have worked with folks from many and varied backgrounds and all walks of life! Each wedding that I've done has been unique and different, and it is my pleasure to help to insure that every couple gets the wedding of their dreams!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
My very favorite project is the wedding of the young couple who were my real estate clients described above. I spent about two hours writing their ceremony. We then met to review it and fine-tuned it...another hour. In total, via phone and email, our process probably took a total of about 5-6 hours of planning.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look for someone who shares your philosophy of life and marriage, and will take a little time to get to know you. Marriage is a joyous but serious commitment, and your wedding should reflect your unique personalities if at all possible!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Anticipate as many issues as you can, then relax and savor the moment!
