Introduction

Instead of the "standard" ceremony, I help each couple customize their vows, so that each wedding is individualized, and I can perform several different ceremonies. I will meet with you, or be available by telephone, as many times that you need. I also like to visit the site of your wedding beforehand, so that the day of the wedding I can be clear as to how you want things set up. I can perform your ceremony at the location of your choosing (within reason, of course!!) Also, I am available 7 days a week, afternoons and evenings I have wedding music on CDs for your use. (I have been hired a lot more than 3 times, but most couples don't think to let Thumbtack know that!! I have officiated over 100 weddings, but not all thru Thumbtack!) Your wedding is one of the most important events of your life. Since it is such a happy occasion, I enjoy making each and every wedding that I officiate extra special, and a day that you will always remember. I LOVE WEDDINGS!! I have officiated very small weddings (the couple and 2 witnesses), as well as very large weddings. The size doesn't matter to me. Making your wedding memorable matters to me. Also, in this line of "work," I get a chance to meet a lot of interesting people, and I love to hear how the couple met, and decided to marry.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
For very small, short time-frame traditional ceremonies (sometimes, the next day!!!!) my fee is $100. For larger weddings, when the date is farther out, I devote more of my time, with meetings and phone calls. I work with the couple in writing their individual vows (I have a book to choose from) then my fee is $150 . If I'm asked to be at the rehearsal, I only charge an additional $25. There is an additional charge for holidays.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
If time allows, I like to meet with the couple at the location where the wedding will be held. At that time, we can discuss details of the wedding. I also have a book of vows that they can take with them, to choose what type of ceremony that they would like to have. I like to get some background on them, how they met, and if they want personal details mentioned in the ceremony. I am also available by phone to discuss any wedding details.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I'm a Notary, and in Florida, Notaries can officiate weddings. I trained through the National Notary Association.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
As a Florida notary, I knew that I was eligible to officiate weddings. After attending several weddings, I decided that in a lot cases, I could do a better job!!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Well, there isn't a "certain type"!! Any couple that wants to marry. All different ages. I love all weddings, whether they are small and intimate, or very large, with a lot of guests and attendants. Each wedding is different.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently officiated a wedding where the couple had known each other for 42 years! His son and her daughter (from prior marriages) were married 10 years earlier, and they had grandchildren in common. The "bride" had been divorced for years, and the "groom's" wife had passed away 3 years ago. So, they started seeing each other, and decided to marry. A great story.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Don't shop price, shop quality of service. As I mentioned before, If time allows, I like to "personalize" each ceremony to make it unique for that particular couple.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Mainly, what type of wedding ceremony do they want to have (casual or elegant,) and if they will need help with their vows. The location, time of day, time of year, etc.
