What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Rehearsal fee $150. Travel fees begin when venue is more than 35 miles from my zip code of 30033. The fees are TBD but in general, they are either $50 or $100. There is a travel fee for each trip - for example, if there is a rehearsal and then a ceremony at two different times, each trip will incur a travel fee.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I am happy to chat via phone, text, email, Thumbtack, or even in person, so the couple can get to know me either before or after deciding to hire me.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

In college, I majored in linguistics and minored in French. All this language study means it is not difficult for me to speak out loud a ceremony in Spanish or other languages. I have performed many weddings in Spanish! As a singer, I am at ease in front of a crowd of people.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

My brother lives in Denver and has been officiating weddings for 40 years! He gave me lots of information and tips, including his beautiful ceremonies he has written and refined over the years.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I’ve officiated large weddings, with 12 attendants on each side, and 200 guests; and I’ve officiated weddings where it’s just me and the couple. For me, there’s not really a huge difference. When all is said and done, it feels like it’s just me and the couple. I love doing weddings that are all along the religious-non-religious spectrum. I also love both same-sex couples and straight couples.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The wedding officiant is such an important part of your wedding day. Some would say the MOST important. The personality, tone, or vibe they bring to your wedding will impact your memories of the event for a lifetime. Does the officiant have a heartfelt approach to his or her work? Is the officiant completely respectful of your wishes for the ceremony? Is there a combination of reverence and lightness? Do you feel a connection to the officiant, that puts you at ease? These are all questions to ask yourself when you speak to or research an officiant.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

They should think about the overall “feeling” they want their wedding ceremony to have. The officiant definitely “sets the tone” for this once-in-a lifetime occasion. If the officiant is uninspiring, hard to hear or understand, brings their own religious agenda that doesn't align with the couple's beliefs or non-beliefs, is unfriendly, or overly-formal, this will affect the memories of this day from now on. My style of officiating, while adjusted appropriately to the wishes and personalities of the couple, is generally relaxed but reverent, and balanced between formal and informal, with touches of humor and meaningful connection.
