I am licensed and insured as well as a Certified Wedding and Conference and Meeting Planner. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My services are based on defined package content. We have Gold, Platinum and Titanium service packages that start at $750. I offer customized packages and have an hourly rate for a la carte services.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I begin by listening to the vision the customer has for their event. This initial discovery process can be done over the telephone or a face to face meeting and is complimentary. I provide recommendations and/or options that I offer that best meet the needs of the client. Once hired, We then discuss the proposed budget in detail vs. the vision. I complete a gap analysis and begin research to support my recommendations.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Wedding Consultant/Planning certification, Conference and Meeting Management Certificate, Project Management Professional (PMP) and a MBA. I am always resesrching educational material that addresses the latest trends in design, color and business resources. I attend forums and trade shows related to the wedding and meeting planning profession.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding where the bride did not have a wedding planner. It became evident at the rehearsal that there was a need for day of wedding coordination. After the rehearsal I went home and researched what should have happened at the rehearsal and at the wedding. The next day I acted as a bridesmaid and wedding coordinator, everything ran smoothly. I was asked to be a part of a few other weddings, decided to pursue formal education and here I am some 20+ years later

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with clients with various age ranges, ethnicities and religious beliefs. For my varying age groups, I stay current with the latest trends. For the client who presents with an ethnic background, I immediately did my research so that I could speak to their wedding and family customs. Likewise, I work with clients with various religious customs and did my research to make certain all the bases were covered. I have managed multiple type of events for attendees ranging from as few as 20 to as many as 5,000. I work with small businesses, non-profit organizations as well as small to medium size corporations.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I spent 9 months planning a wedding for a bride who lived in Canada and had never been to Atlanta. I was able to take her vision and turn it into reality and per her comments " the day was more spectacular than she had even imagined."

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When you hire a professional, allow them to give you the benefit of their experience, at least to the extent of at least listening to any areas of concern. As with any contracted service make certain you understand the pricing and what it includes.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Have a budget figure in mind that is realistic for your current financial situation. How flexible is the date and how realistic is the date?
