Introduction

Hello, my name is Meredith! I am a caring, creative, flexible officiant/minister. I would love to work with you in designing a ceremony to reflect the love that the two of you share. You want a more in-depth ceremony for a larger wedding? Great! I'll work with you to create a beautiful ceremony . Or, if you are wanting a quick, no-fuss "courthouse" style wedding-no problem! I can do that as well. I believe that your wedding should reflect who you are, and what your preferences are, My fee includes writing and performing the ceremony, consultation with you (either in person, by phone or email) , and I will provide you with a a digital copy or hard copy of your ceremony script. I'd love to come to your rehearsal if you are having a larger occasion, but I will have to charge a $25 fee because of extra time spent as well as costs incurred for gas and mileage. (This is new as of January 1, 2022.) I do offer discounts for active Military, Fire, EMT, or Law Enforcement, as well as weddings performed in locations close to me. Quick, no-fuss weddings may also be discounted (depending on location).

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My pricing starts at $125. However, if the wedding you choose is at my house or a close location (20 miles or less), and if it is a quick wedding with no rehearsal I am happy to give a discount that can bring the price down to about $100 (depending on the ceremony that you want and location ). First responders, military, and police are also eligible for discounts.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
After our initial contact on the phone, I will send you my contract. If you decide to book your wedding with me, you will send the contract back with a $25 down payment (included in the price quoted). This will lock in the date. If you choose to have a consultation,we will set it up. If you are local,it will be in person or if you are out of area, on the phone. At the consultation, we will work together to customize your wedding. You can choose from samples that I provide, or I will be happy to use vows that you write. I want your day to be a reflection of the two of you, whether that be serious, romantic, quirky, or just fun!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
As a trained educator, I have worked with people for over 20 years. I have helped people in the best times of their lives, as well as very trying times. I also have a background (and degree) as a professional singer, and have performed in weddings as small as an intimate back yard garden ceremony to a huge, $100,000 wedding at a large cathedral. Currently, I am ordained to perform weddings in Kansas and Missouri. I trained with one of the top officiants in the area for several months to learn the best practices for a professional officiant.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
A close friend of mine has been an officiant for many years. I have listened to her stories of the fun, interesting people she has met, the friendships she has made, and the couples that she has joined together. So, I got my ordination and started training with her. After my first wedding, I was hooked! The couple were so fun, appreciative, and complimentary of the ceremony that I performed for them. I enjoy the energy and the love that surrounds each wedding, and I look forward to providing the best wedding ceremony possible for each of my clients.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with mostly smalI, intimate weddings. I also have performed a number of larger weddings. Basically I can work with any type of wedding - large, small, first marriages, 2nd marriages, elopements, same sex, etc.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A recent "project" was a last minute wedding. Just seeing the excitement, the nervousness, and the love on the faces of the bride and groom was so touching. It wasn't a big, fancy affair- in fact there were only a few people there. But, it was perfect for that couple and I was honored to play a part in their union.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look for an officiant that is flexible, and has an honest interest in helping you design the wedding ceremony that you want for yourself. They should be professional and personable -someone that you are comfortable being around.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
1. What kind of wedding do I want? (religious, civil. etc.) 2. What location do I have in mind for this wedding? 3. What size of wedding am I planning on having? (both participants and guests) 4. Are there any special rituals that I want to include in my ceremony?
