Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I’m fairly priced for my time, knowledge, and services that I offer. I require a non-refundable retainer fee. Only serious inquiries are encouraged.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
A consultation is setup. I share information about APRIL WEDD, & answer questions. If the potential client likes what I’m saying I collect info to send my officiant & location(if necessary) contracts via email. The potential bride/groom has 24hrs to say yes, sign & send a non-refundable retainer, or pay in full depending on how close the wedding date is to reserve the date & my services. Then the planning process begins. When all is said and done, I have brought two ppl together to start their happily legally married life!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I took some business classes during the pandemic to get my business acumen up. I invested in courses to teach me how to write ceremonies & perform weddings appropriately. Then I stepped out on faith! Now I’m confidently seeking clientele on Thumbtack!

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started as a notary & an apostille agent, but I wanted to marry ppl in Massachusetts. So I became a Justice of the Peace to start my wedding business, and April Wedd was lovingly created.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All types are welcome at APRIL WEDD. I take all serious inquiries. I do screen for scammers though.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I was recommended to a friend. We had a virtual consultation. The contract was signed & retainer/balance was paid in full 24hrs later. The couple was happily married at my location 7 days later. In attendance w/bride & groom was MOH & BM along with 2 bmaids & a photographer! The whole ceremony was beautiful and meaningful even though it was pulled together in a very short time. There was also a photo shoot afterwards which was all completed in 2hrs!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
It’s smart to ask questions and compare before making an important decision about who will receive the honored position as your wedding officiant. No other vendor is more important. Period. So pick a pro like me (APRIL WEDD) that is invested in your big day. Some requests do cost extra, but that’s just common sense.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
A marriage license obtained from your local county clerk’s office is vital. No marriage license no wedding. It is recommended to obtain the license 2-3 weeks before the wedding date. There is an expiration date on all marriage licenses. A couple has 60 days to get married, & a 3 day waiting period once the license is obtained in Massachusetts. Determining your wedding date would be extremely helpful to all vendors.
