What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I charge $175.00, which includes a preliminary meeting with the couple, the rehearsal (if needed; mandatory if children are in the wedding party), the ceremony, and completion of all needed paperwork. I collect a deposit of $100.00 at the first meeting, and the balance is due on the day of the ceremony.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I always meet with the couple in advance of the wedding date in order to get acquainted with each other, plan your unique ceremony, and review plans for rehearsal and wedding. I collect a $100.00 deposit at the first meeting, and the balance is due on the day of the wedding. I'll see to it that the marriage license is properly and completely filled out, and attach my credentials before returning it to the appropriate authority to be recorded.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I'm a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary. I've served churches in California, New Jersey, and New York City. I have over 45 years' experience in planning and conducting meaningful, joyful wedding ceremonies.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

It "came with the territory" of being a parish minister, and I discovered that I really enjoyed working with couples to plan the most special day of their lives.

What types of customers have you worked with?

An incredibly diverse group - interracial couples, older couples, same-gender couples, etc.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I retired from active ministry in 2012. I have no recent projects to describe!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Trust your instincts. Choose an officiant with whom you feel comfortable, who genuinely listens to you. Don't let price be your sole consideration.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

What kind of ceremony do we want? What music and/or words are especially important for us to include? Are there others who could/should take part in our ceremony? Will there be any children in the wedding party? Are they old enough to participate?
