Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I offer tiered levels of services for officiating a wedding and a flat fee for premarital sessions. Couples don't have to hire me as an officiant to get premarital sessions. For officiating services, the basic fee includes a wedding planning meeting, officiating the wedding, and signing the marriage certificate. Additionally, there is a fee for the wedding rehearsal, custom scripts with your love story, or any day-of wedding coordination.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I meet in on video or over the phone to answer any questions and get some information about the vision of the ceremony, your background as a couple, and any areas you may want to discuss in premarital sessions.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I spent years counseling clients on behavioral modifications in public health settings. Currently, I am licensed by the Universal Life Church. Additionally, I am an Agape Licensed Spiritual Practitioner out of Agape International Spiritual Center based in Los Angeles, CA.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I knew I had these gifts of speaking and writing that could be used to serve! I have also been called funny and poetic, LOL. So I just have to take the "stage" and officiate weddings. And still, it is all about the couple. I keep my composure and guided them through a beautiful ceremony.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with LGBTQ couples and agnostic couples and Christian couples. I want to continue to work with these types of couples and many more.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
For premarital sessions, I'm currently working with a lovely couple who have improved their bond and communication as a result of the discussions and exercises. As an officiant, I worked for about six months with a couple who got married in a grandparent's home. It was lovely to see how they worked together to have a beautiful ceremony. They were committed to doing reflection work for their premarital sessions. It was great to see how the whole family came together to support the couple.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Ask lots of questions. Gain a feel for the personality of the vendor. Be willing to work with the vendor to get what you want.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
For premarital sessions - Consider what is the counselor's style, what is the couple's responsibility, and what type of activities will take place. For the wedding ceremony - specifics in terms of locations, dates, times, expectations, absolute yes items, and absolute no items. Payment schedule. Colors and what the officiant is expected to wear. Also, ask whether there will be a microphone. Who are all the players in planning the wedding and who are the go-to people on the day of the wedding?
