Introduction

Our specialty is in working with couples to make the ceremony their own. I love it when couples insert their own vows and work hard to make them flow into the rest of the ceremony. Really enjoy working to make sure our couples get everything they've dreamed of out of their ceremony.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I try to keep in mind that the couples I serve have a budget and many things to consider. I put many hours into developing a ceremony for the couples I serve and know I could never charge for all my time. In that way it is a labor of love for me. My biggest payment is in knowing I have given my couples exactly what they wanted for their special day.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
After we have agreed that I will perform the ceremony and booked the date. I will send out a commitment letter explaining what we have agreed on. There will be a timeline when the scripts will be presented and when the couple will have their script picked, the timeline leaves about 10 days at the end for any last minute changes. I will get to know the couple through phone calls. I will go over what they want for their ceremony. I will offer my guidance in areas where it is needed. Once I get to know the couple I will work on the ceremony. I often prepare as many as three samples for my couple to consider. All will be a combination of what the couple has requested along with the thoughts I got while getting to know them. Of coarse if the couple knows exactly everything they want word for word we will do that. The day is all about the couples desires. I will attend the rehearsal if needed and offer assistance when requested. Lastly I will perform the ceremony pronounce you husband and wife and sign the marriage certificate. I will mail in the certificate certified mail so I can track it and make sure they recieved it.

I have always been able to feel comfortable talking in front of people from small groups to groups as large as 500. I have been asked on numerous occasions to speak at gatherings some to do with my job and some for family and friends.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was asked by my grandaughter to perform her ceremony. I was honored and so started my journey helping couples realize their dreams. I was asked by three couples who attended to perform their weddings and really enjoyed doing them so here we are. I really love being involved with my couples at this very important moment in their lives.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have been honored to work with couples from 18 to 85 years young. I have performed ceremonies for friends and complete strangers. I actually love the experience of serving people I don't know, one of the greatest compliments I can receive as an officiant is when a couple says " It was like you've known us all our lives" Then I know I have done a great job for my couple.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I think performing my grandaughters ceremony on the beach at Lake Tahoe will always be the memory I cherish. It was what made me realize that I really could enjoy being involved in the process of uniting couples and starting their lives together. Took about 10 hrs to plan and get just right, then about 30 min. to perform the ceremony. We also included Jared's two daughters in the ceremony. Including them was very important to my grandaughter. The girls absolutely loved it. I believe the children should be included in the ceremony where possible.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Be sure you verbalize exactly what you want in your ceremony. After discussing your expectations your officiant should be willing and able to provide sample ceremonies for you to consider. Remember the most important thing is that you end up with the wedding of your dreams.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

What do we really want out of our ceremony! What are we looking for in an officiant?
