Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
In Nevada, notarization fees are determined by the state. A notary may charge less, but they cannot charge more. Notary fees start at $10 for the first signature if I'm traveling to you plus a travel fee, $15 if you come to me with no travel fees. Please note that by law all notaries must post their fees upfront. I do discount my travel fees for teachers, military and first responders. People who live their lives in service of others mean a lot to me. Wedding vow exchange with paperwork filing starts at $50, full ceremonies start at $80. We can work with you to have a friend conduct your ceremony and have us handle the legal side.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I always want to have a conversation with my client to ensure we are on the same page with what's needed. Communication is everything. I'm also a firm believer in being punctual, and re-verifying ahead of time dates, times and locations to avoid any confusion.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I hold a notary certification for the State of Nevada, renewed as of May 11, 2022 (four year certification). I'm also licensed as a wedding officiant to perform ceremonies throughout the state of Nevada.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Becoming a notary was something I always wanted to do. I've wanted to do some sort of public service work, but I wasn't cut out to be a police officer or firefighter or EMT. I firmly believe that access to these type of needs should be affordable, so being a notary where I could be of service but also not have to charge outrageous fees was a great solution. Whether it's as a notary or a wedding officiant I want to be a force for good in people's lives.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I've seen the highs of people getting new jobs and homes to the lows of people in their final stages of life getting their affairs in order. The one thing that is the same is that everyone needs help sometimes and I'm thrilled to provide that help.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look to see if you're comfortable with the person you're choosing. Ask questions and make sure the person responds clearly and with detail. Price shouldn't be the most important factor, your rapport with the other person should be.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
If you're working with anything such as a power-of-attorney or a will, be sure the notary you are hiring is very familiar with all of the state statutes and understands when you need a witness and when you don't. If they're unable to communicate their knowledge of these important areas, they are probably not the right fit for you.
