Introduction

I have had the distinct honor of officiating over 250 weddings in the New York area. I've created ceremonies for weddings ranging from a tiny barge in the middle of New York Harbor to the Central Park Boathouse. However big or small your celebration may be, I will guide you toward creating an event that reflects your unique relationship. I am ordained through New York City and am able to perform ceremonies anywhere in the state of New York, as well as New Jersey. My background in theatre brings with it a love of people and their stories. I call on those skills to create a custom ceremony that celebrates who you are both as individuals and as a couple.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I begin with a complimentary phone or Zoom consultation. If you decide to book with me, pricing includes a custom ceremony with as many edits as needed, meetings to check in as we get closer to the wedding date, officiating the ceremony on the day, and completion of legal paperwork.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I like to have an initial phone or video call to get an idea of what you are looking for in a ceremony. I walk you through how I typically build a custom ceremony and the various elements available to make a ceremony that works for you. Some couples choose to include details of their history to make the ceremony very personal, while some prefer a more simple, city clerk style ceremony. Whatever your preference is, I will make sure your ceremony reflects your vision for the day. I send the completed ceremony to you and I am happy to edit it until it is exactly what you want. I am available for calls/meetings throughout the process to ensure you are happy with your wedding ceremony.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a theatre artist, which I find is a perfect prerequisite for this work. Not only am I drawn to people and their stories, but I bring a curiosity, playfulness, and grounded energy to my work. Public speaking is essential to my work as an actor, and I love being able to bring that skill to this job.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

A dear friend of mine was leaving a company of officiants here in NYC to go to graduate school and had a sense that I would love this work. She was 100% right, and I never looked back. I still work for that company (shout out Officiant NYC!) in addition to my own individual officiating work.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I've worked with a wide variety of wonderful couples ranging from a simple license signing ceremony in a Brooklyn apartment to a 350 person wedding in an epic manor in Long Island. I am just as happy with an intimate elopement in Prospect Park as I am officiating a large event with all the bells and whistles.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

This is a very personal process and I encourage you to speak to several different officiants. We all have a different vibe and way of working and you will know when you've met your match. Trust your gut.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Take some time to really think about what you as a couple want from this special day. It's very easy to get wrapped up in what everyone else wants. How do you imagine this day and what elements will make it the most special for you as a couple? It only happens once, so give yourself time to reflect on what will make this memorable for you. And, of course, I have plenty of ideas to offer after 200 very different wedding ceremonies. ;)
