Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I offer a free 15 minute consultation before hiring if needed. The 200$ includes a face to face or FaceTime meeting to discuss the couples answers to the questionnaire. 30$ —help with writing vows 50$ + gas/lodging - to be present at rehearsal (if I have to spend the night)

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I provide a free consultation for couples to get started. I then send them a questionnaire to find out more details and to also prompt their own discussion about what it is they really want. I provide suggestions if they really don’t know what they want and Lead them to good resources when they aren’t sure. I google doc the ceremony in its entirety then we send it back and forth until it is exactly what they want.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a Spanish and French teacher, voice coach, vocalist, musician and performer. I have written dramas, children’s musicals, and been interested in worship design and worship leading for several years.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was asked by friends a year and a half ago if I would marry them. Initially I thought they were going to ask me to sing - however the challenge appealed to me a lot because of my recent survival from a long battle with cancer. I believe they were asking me because of my resilient spirit. The experience literally changed my life in a profound way. My experience as a Spanish and French teacher, voice coach, musician, writer, director and interest in worship design all have proven to be great creative resources for this work. Most importantly I love working with couples and hearing their love stories- it is a source of hope and joy in this life.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have married all heterosexual couples so far, however am open and affirming to marry same-sex and trans couples as well.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
When I met with Nadiya and Hobart he happened to mention that he was a classically trained vocalist. This was interesting to me because I am a vocalist/musician. When Nadiya said that she had never heard him sing- this seemed fairly shocking. So I encouraged him to sing for her since they were going to have only one witness besides me. They were married on a bridge over a beautiful stream on a sunny spring morning. It was really like a pastoral dreamscape. Instead of saying his vows he decided to sing them. He sang two songs - French Love song (in French of course) and If Ever I Would Leave You from Camelot. It was one of the most amazing and wonderful moments I have ever witnessed. All this from the couple who said they wanted it short and sweet.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure they are tuned into your personal preferences and ideas. More importantly that they are comfortable working with people.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What their vision is for the ceremony. Will family be involved? Will it be religious or non? What if one partner is religious and the other isn’t? What are the details that would make it truly memorable and precious even though it is “short and sweet”?
