Introduction

I personalize every ceremony to fit the couples I serve. My belief is that their wedding is all about them and not about me. I enjoy making the ceremony for each couple I serve special and unique. A ceremony that is designed to fit exactly who they are.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I customize each ceremony and will work with any couple within reason when it comes to pricing.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I first like to set up a 1 on 1 meeting with them to get a feel for what they are looking for. Then I begin working on their ceremony. E-mailing back and forth as well as phone calls. I am open to meet with couples a many times as they like to craft their perfect ceremony.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am an ordained minister. I attended Bible college and Seminary and pastored for 7 years in Illinois.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I have been an ordained minister for over 17 years. I love weddings a celebrating the moment when 2 become 1.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Why does it cost so much? There's an old story credited to Picasso in his later years where he spent only 5 minutes to produce a sketch and asked $4,000 for it. When asked why so much, he asserted that this work didn't take a mere 5 minutes, but 90 years and 5 minutes. Such is the case for officiants who have spent years studying the art of ceremony design as well. From the point of view of a ceremony guest, it may look as if a wedding officiant is providing merely a half an hour of service to the family. Such people will occasionally ask why it should cost a whole day's pay for a few minutes service. Of course, the reality is much more complex. In fact, far more than 30 minutes of work goes into the design, writing, editing, rehearsing and performing of a modern wedding ceremony. Please consider the time, work and expense involved in: •In-person consultations •Emails and phone calls •Finalizing ceremony wording, vows, readings and musical choices •Coordinating schedules of the participants, for consultations and rehearsals •Research for particular ceremony options (both the research done currently and that performed over years of education and training) •Ceremony preparation, proof-reading, private read-throughs, updating, revisions, submitting for editing, last minute changes and eliciting the final approval •Travel time and time spent waiting before rehearsals •The rehearsal itself •Travel time and time spent waiting before the ceremony •Calming nervous participants before the ceremony •Greeting guests before the ceremony •The ceremony itself (those infamous 30 minutes) •Being available to participants and guests following the ceremony •Writing contracts and filing legal and personal paperwork ~ then of course there's the time lost with our own significant others on weekends, when family and friends tend to be home. Remember: You can always have a wedding without the dresses, the tuxedos, the flowers, the rings, the food and music, but... You can't have a ceremony without an Officiant. If you want a legal wedding, it's one of the only items you DO need. If you don't really care how experienced, knowledgable and professional your officiant is, then it makes sense to shop around for the cheapest price. But if you want an officiant with a reputation you can trust, someone with experience who can handle the details for you while you enjoy your wedding day; consider budgeting for a professional officiant who will work for a lot longer than 30 minutes to make sure your wedding ceremony is everything you dreamed it could be
