What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once a couple reaches out, we begin with a quick initial meeting to go over details and make sure we’re a great fit. After that, a contract is signed and a $125 non-refundable deposit is paid to officially secure the date.
The couple then obtains their marriage license through the Charleston County Probate Court online (there’s a $70 fee). Once the license is confirmed, we send out a detailed planning guide along with a selection of ceremony script options. The couple chooses the script that best fits their style and emails it back.
On the wedding day, your officiant arrives at the location, performs the ceremony, and then personally walks your signed marriage license into the court to ensure everything is legally finalized.
It’s a seamless, stress-free process designed to make your day simple and beautiful.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I’ve been officiating weddings for the past 3 years, bringing a warm, professional, and personalized touch to every ceremony. In 2024, we proudly launched our own business, Elope Charleston SC, to focus on creating meaningful, stress-free elopements in one of the most romantic cities in the country.
My experience includes crafting and performing a wide variety of ceremonies — from traditional to modern and everything in between — always tailored to reflect each couple’s unique story and values.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got started officiating weddings while working with Carnival Cruise Line when it was docked in the Charleston port. I had the incredible opportunity to marry couples aboard the ship and quickly fell in love with being part of such a meaningful moment in people’s lives.
I worked with Carnival for over three years, gaining valuable experience in creating and delivering memorable ceremonies. That passion eventually led me to venture out on my own and launch Elope Charleston SC, where I now specialize in intimate, personalized elopements right here in Charleston.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I’ve had the honor of working with a diverse range of couples — including same-sex couples, people of all ages, races, religious backgrounds, and denominational preferences.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
One recent ceremony that really touched my heart was for a woman getting married for the second time after the loss of her husband. It was a deeply emotional and meaningful day — filled with hope, healing, and love.
We held the ceremony for free in Hampton Park, one of Charleston’s most beautiful and peaceful locations. The couple chose to use our photographer to capture the moment, and the photos truly reflected the joy and tenderness of their new beginning.
From the initial conversation to the ceremony day, everything came together within a couple of weeks — a simple, beautiful celebration of love and second chances.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for someone who truly listens to what you want for your day. Your officiant should make you feel comfortable, respected, and supported — whether you’re planning something traditional or completely unique.
Make sure they’re organized, responsive, and familiar with the Charleston area (including how to handle the marriage license process). Ask if they provide ceremony script options and whether they’ll file the license for you — those little details can make a big difference in keeping things stress-free.
Most importantly, choose someone who genuinely enjoys being part of such a meaningful moment — it makes all the difference.
