Introduction

Please note: at this time, I am unable to perform jail/prison weddings. Sorry! Hello! I'm excited to work with you to develop a great ceremony for your big event! I have been officiating for several years now, conducting dozens of weddings, and have typically specialized in casual, more intimate ceremonies. For more elaborate needs, I'm certainly willing to work with you to craft exactly what you want. I'm happy to be flexible and creative in delivering an outstanding service! I enjoy helping others to get the experience they are looking for, something that reflects them personally and has meaning to them. If you have a non-standard request, I'm happy to explore it with you. I am also happy to perform non-denominational or secular ceremonies, and I am happy to perform ceremonies for the LGBT community. Do you need an officiant in costume? Do you need your ceremony to reflect your nerdiness, your rocker aesthetic, or your faith? Do you just need something simple and traditional? I've got you! My base price is $150. This includes me preparing and officiating the ceremony. If your location is outside of San Antonio, there may be a $60 surcharge for mileage and travel time.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I'll generally consult with the couple beforehand, to see what they are looking for in their ceremony. Once we get all the parameters, I'll send a sample ceremony template, with different options for the various parts of the ceremony (introduction, readings, vows, etc). We'll continue to tweak as necessary until we've got exactly what you want!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I'm ordained through the Universal Life Church, a nondenominational organization committed to certifying officiants. In my personal life, I'm a teacher, so public speaking and presenting is part of my career.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I actually started as a bit of a fluke/dare. My friend and I always talked about how she might need me to officiate her wedding someday, and I made a promise to be ready for it! I got ordained through the ULC, and didn't think much of it past that. Fast forward a few years, and another friend needed an officiant for their wedding. I offered my services, and just kept going from there! I've really enjoyed being able to help people achieve this incredible milestone in their lives.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I've mostly worked with customers who are looking for small, intimate affairs. Most people have wanted quick ceremonies, without a lot of frills. I've had a few who have had more elaborate requests, and those have been enjoyable. But most of my experiences have been simple ceremonies.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Don't force things. Remember that your day is for you. If you don't want all the frills and ceremony, then don't try to force it to happen. It will stress you out and it won't feel as special to you. Also, designate a "responsible adult" for your wedding day. It might be a wedding planner, but if you're doing something simple, just designate a parent or someone trusted as the point person. That way vendors can communicate with someone "in charge" without having to bother you for everything on the day of.
