Introduction

Hi my name is Shannon I am an ordained minister thru the universal life church! I was originally ordained to help a friend in need! I have been an ordained minister since June 2018 and have performed multiple weddings including same sex! I can perform a small intimate ceremony with just a couple of witnesses all the way to a big ceremony in front of family and friends! We can meet in person and form a game plan! Make a script customized to your wedding based on your story as a couple including likes and dislikes

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I start at $75 and go up from there depending on how far I have to travel or if your needing help with planning as well! I’m willing to travel provided I have more than advanced notice because I do work full time! Also upon meeting you pay half up front and the rest either right before or after the ceremony! The first half is like a security deposit! Your securing someone to come out and officiate over your ceremony!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I like to communicate over the phone most of the time via text! I like to meet with the couple in person to get to know them and find out their story! If it’s one thing I find old and boring is your typical cookie cutter wedding you see on tv! Don’t be afraid to allow some humor (all in good taste) and share your interests that you and your partner have! I like to know whether or not they will be writing their own vows promising to have and to hold or never go to bed angry! Be open to do something with your ceremony that’s out of the box and that your guests will always remember! That way if someone else you know is getting married and liked what the officiant had to say during the ceremony they may wanna book with that officiant in the future! Most couples have done the big white wedding with the traditional stuff and are looking for something that isn’t traditional and not boring! Just everyday people who throw a one of kind wedding

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have been ordained thru the universal Life Church since June 2018! I also have years of customer service experience underneath my belt which has given me excellent communication and people skills! I am normally shy at first however once we get to know each other I can’t shut up! Being an ordained minister and doing weddings has helped me come out of that shell and be more of a public speaker!

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I first got started when a friend of mine was getting married in June 2018 ! She and her husband had 4 days before the wedding and several different people bailing on them! I like everyone else went asking around and a friend of mine whose an ordained minister herself suggested I go online and become ordained to do the wedding myself! I went online and became ordained right away! I didn’t end up being needed after all to perform the ceremony but I figured why not make other people’s happily ever after a reality! And who doesn’t love a good wedding! I love love and what better way to spread love around than to be apart of your special day making your happily ever after a reality!!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with various customers ranging from their 2nd marriage for both parties to the lgbtq community! The couple that has been together for several years and decides its about time they get married and don’t want a lot of fuss! Or the type that saved up for their dream wedding since they were 17! The picky brides, the last minute our marriage license expires soon to the indecisive brides! Where it goes from just an elopement in the park with a couple of witnesses to waiting longer and longer till the right venue is available!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Don’t be afraid to ask questions! I ask a lot of questions to get to know the people I’m marrying that way I get an idea of how to put their wedding script together! We understand things happen but please be mindful of the fact that a lot of wedding officiants do this fulltime and could be booking other weddings! So if they are trying to secure your date just for you (especially if they are taking time off from their fulltime jobs) than be in contact with them on a regular basis! Don’t be afraid to ask for additional help if needed! Communication is everything! Don’t be afraid to speak up if you don’t like something they are planning on doing like if you have family that is traditional and the minister uses profanity or mentions something in the script that they don’t want anyone else to know or know just yet! Don’t be afraid to speak up and tell them how you want your ceremony or if you don’t want them to stick around for the party! It’s ok to say no because you want the party to be just family or you don’t have enough food! We can leave right after the license is signed and the rest of the money is collected!!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
How many wedding has this person done? How far would this officiant be willing to travel? What can this person bring to our wedding that their 2nd cousin or childhood pastor of 20 plus years doesn’t bring to the ceremony? Ask to see their credentials? Is this person the real deal or are they just some phoney? Do they stay for the party or leave right after? Do we want them to walk down the aisle with the wedding party?
