Introduction

Hi there, congratulations on your upcoming wedding. If you are getting this quote it's because my schedule is showing that I am available on your special day. When we get together, I start with a discussion with you and your fiance and get to know you better. Then I'm able to personalize a perfect wedding script for you. I find out what is important to you and your family as part of the ceremony and I am very flexible. For example, if you want to write your own vows and memorize them, you can. If you need help writing vows, I'll help you as part of my fee and I'm happy to send you sample vows as well. I help you pick out any readings you want and any custom or ritual you want. I love helping people in love tie the knot and have a memorable day! I offer weddings that are interfaith, Jewish, Christian, non-denominational, non-religious, and same sex. I also have officiated over 300 weddings in Spanish! The wedding is all about the couple and their beliefs and what makes the day perfect for them. In addition to this fee there is a charge for travel, otherwise everything is included. I love helping people who are in love make their wedding special and memorable for them. I love hearing how they met and what they love about each other and how they knew he or she was the right one for them. I like helping them so the ceremony is a simple, stress free part of the whole planning process.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
If it's a simple wedding and only one trip is required and it's up to 25 miles away, I charge around $195-225. My price includes performing the wedding, signing the license, helping with vows, designing the perfect ceremony with you! If I need to invest time in travel I will probably add $39 to 45 to it. If I need to travel multiple times, i.e. once for the rehearsal and then again for the wedding and travel is far, I might add another $75.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
When asked to officiate a wedding, I like to have a preliminary discussion with the couple to understand the key elements they want in their ceremony. Things like will we mention G-d, how do they want to refer to Him, what rituals do they want in it. Do they want me to suggest vows, do they want to write their own, do they want me to have them repeat vows after me, memorize or read from paper. I basically understand the logistics they want so the wedding is everything they want it to be.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have worked with young adults and students for over 30 years for special events in their life. I have years of counseling and planning. I am an ordained Liberal Rabbi and with that title am qualified to officiate any wedding. I have performed over 300 weddings, including Jewish, interfaith, non-religious, non-denominational Christian, and same sex. I have also done over 100 weddings in Spanish!

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I have taught for many years, and helped individuals as part of discovery programs find themselves and find a path. I started doing weddings first for family and close friends. I then started getting asked by others to officiate their wedding because they had seen me in a public venue and liked my demeanor and style and humor. Once I was ordained as a Rabbi, I realized that title gave me the authority to officiate weddings and I started doing more and more.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have married interfaith couples, specifically someone that was Christian and someone that was Jewish, someone that was Christian with someone who was Muslim. I have done many non-religious weddings where either the couple wants to make "official" their long term relationship or where a young couple wants to "elope" to avoid all of the family intervention and planning. I have done several non-denominational weddings, where both couples are Christian, but of different denominations so they want the referrals to God to be generic enough to make both families comfortable. I am also very comfortable and supportive of officiated weddings for same sex couples.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I officiated a wedding for Brittany and Justin which was Christian and Jewish. The guys all had on vests, cowboy boots and hats, the women were in turquoise. The bachelor's cake was a truck throwing mud on the bride. Everyone was lively and happy. We integrated the key elements each one wanted from their faith into the ceremony. At another recent wedding, it was the bride, groom and I standing in a field of blue bonnets with just her parents present. We said vows, I do's and they blended two colors of sand together in a class container. The bride was in a white lace short dress with cowboy boots and the groom in jeans and a hat. It was just so simple and beautiful as they held hands and made vows to each other.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Find someone that will work with you to make the ceremony what you dreamed of and personalize it! Find someone who will take the time to explain things and understand your family dynamics. Find someone who is flexible and helpful.
