Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Customers should know that, most, house call jobs start at $125/hr. I provide remote troubleshooting, starting at $50 flat fee. I offer a variety of discounts to First Responders, Teachers, Veterans, Nurses, and Senior Citizens (60+)

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
When working with a customer I like to understand what their main concerns are by talking through the problem as well as ensuring they are informed of what exactly the solution will be. I also like to understand what their level of technological understanding is so that I can accurately convey information in a way that is not over or undersimplified.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have been working for major corporations for the last 11 years (Microsoft, Capital One, Raytheon) providing IT infrastrucutre administration. Outside of my professional experience, I hold a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science from Western Governor's University. I also hold a number of industry certifications in various hardware disciplines as well as cyber security.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I have always been passionate about computers. I am a third generation IT professional. I was 6 years old when I built my first computer with my father. Ever since that day I knew I wanted to work in IT and have not regreted that decision once.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have a very varied customer base. I work with younger clients on phone repairs, I have instructed seniors on how to use social media, and I have had a number of different small businesses hire me for security system installations and custom networking projects.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
One of the projects I am most fond of was building a custom computer for a recent high school graduate. His parents had not allowed him to play video games untill he graduated, but they wanted to suprise him with a top of the line gaming PC as a graduation present. I was able to work with the parents to find the perfect system that fit their budget and built the computer in about three hours.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
When looking to hire an electronic security controls installer be sure that they have the proper registration with the state. All qualified security installers should be able to provide you with their DCJS number so that you can verify the installer has passed mandatory training and work requirements tied to security controls for clients.
