Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We try to be as clear as possible to make sure you are getting the best service at a reasonable cost. We do not have any hidden fees - and all taxes are paid by BPM.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We like to over-communicate before we even see the project in person to make sure we are on the same page. If it's ever a job or project that we cannot do or do not have time to do, we will subcontract the job to someone we have used before to assure the service is done promptly.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I (Zack) currently hold a Home Improvement Contractor license in the state of MA and am legally allowed to practice in NH and ME as well. I also have done 3 apprenticeships in three different fields - masonry, landscaping, and general contracting. This has given me a lot of different perspective on how to analyze and plan for projects.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I (Zack) started when I was 14 as a "Mason's Assistant" in rural PA working for a family friend. At that point, I had no experience working with my hands or tools, and I immediately fell in love with it. Fast forward a few years, I worked as Handyman and now own my business as a Home Improvement Contractor.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
BPM typically works with homeowners, property owners, landlords, and commercial properties.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
BPM recently did a retaining wall in Wayland on a property on a lake. It made for great scenic views as well as a lot of challenges. The area was only accessible down 3 flights of concrete stairs, making us carry every block and tool by hand. It was a challenge - but the project turned out beautifully and it's something we look back on. All in all, it took about a month to complete. (There's also a photo in our "photos" section showing the before/after of the build.)

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Try to describe the project in the best way you can and add photos if possible. This will help the Pro give you immediate answers and typically gets projects started sooner.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
When do I need this complete? What is my budget? Will I need to be home during the project?
