Introduction

Captain Clean Restoration CO Large enough to serve. Small enough to care. Captain Clean Restoration specializes in insurance-driven water, fire, and mold damage restoration. We’re certified by the IICRC and trained to follow industry protocols, building codes, and safety standards. Whether you're dealing with a burst pipe, smoke damage, storm-related flooding, or a mold problem — we don’t guess, we document and restore the right way. We’re not just contractors — we’re also experts in insurance claims. We have public adjusters on staff who understand your policy and can help make sure everything that should be covered, gets covered. Most contractors don’t know the language of insurance. Most insurance adjusters don’t know the field. We speak both. Our team builds scopes of work that follow real building standards, not shortcuts — and we back our work with photos, dry logs, and compliance documents. That’s how we consistently help our clients get the full value of their claim and restore their property correctly, the first time. We use state-of-the-art equipment, maintain proper certifications, and keep up with the latest regulations for asbestos, lead, and microbial contaminants. We work across Chicago and surrounding areas, and we treat every home like it’s our own. If it needs to be cleaned, dried, documented, or rebuilt to code, we’re the team you want on-site.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Our pricing reflects the complexity and compliance of the work being performed. We follow IICRC standards for water, fire, and mold restoration, meaning no shortcuts. Smaller jobs may be priced by the hour or square foot. Insurance-based projects follow line-item billing through Xactimate. We can often provide free quotes, but formal written estimates that include detailed scopes, measurements, or protocols are a billable service unless part of an insurance claim. Be cautious with low bids — they often skip necessary steps. We see a lot of failed or incomplete work that ends up costing the homeowner more in the long run. We're transparent and will walk you through everything to make sure you're not just getting a good price — you're getting real value.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
It starts with a quick discovery call or message to assess your needs. We’ll ask a few key questions and, if necessary, schedule a walkthrough. If it’s an insurance claim, we’ll document the damage, write a compliant scope of work, and even communicate directly with your adjuster if needed. We’re known for being responsive, detailed, and clear — that means fewer surprises and better results. Whether mitigation or repairs, our process is built around solid documentation, code compliance, and clear timelines.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
We’re certified in: Water Damage Restoration (WRT) Applied Structural Drying (ASD) Fire & Smoke Restoration (FSRT) Odor Control (OCT) Mold Remediation (AMRT) Carpet & Textile Cleaning (CCT) We’re a certified firm with the IICRC and the International Restoration Institute (IRI) and stay up to date on building codes, material safety laws, and industry protocols. We also have a licensed asbestos abatement partner, so we can legally and safely handle hazardous materials when needed. Unlike many companies, we also have licensed public adjusters on staff. That means we don’t just understand mitigation — we understand insurance policy language, claim procedures, and documentation standards inside and out. Here’s what most people don’t know: Less than 10% of public adjusters hold IICRC certifications, and most desk adjusters working insurance files never set foot on your property — they often don’t have WRT, FSRT, or field experience. We build scopes that follow code, industry standards, and real-world jobsite conditions — and that’s why we consistently get better results.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started in carpet cleaning in the late ’90s under a large restoration company and got exposed to all sides of the business — cleaning, mitigation, documentation, and rebuilds. I worked hard, took IICRC training, and realized I could offer a more honest, high-quality service than the big guys. That’s when Captain Clean was born. Now we help property owners navigate damage and insurance — and actually get their homes restored the right way.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
What types of customers have you worked with? We’ve worked with: Homeowners with water, fire, mold, or storm damage Landlords and management companies Real estate investors and brokers Public adjusters, general contractors, and inspectors Commercial clients and municipalities No job is too small — and no loss is too complex. If it involves damage and needs to be documented, cleaned, or rebuilt to code, we can handle it.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
For water, mold, or fire restoration: Hire a contractor who’s IICRC-certified, experienced in insurance claims, and understands building codes. In Illinois, there’s no law requiring contractors to be certified for mold or water damage cleanup — which means a lot of people are out here doing the work without proper training. That leads to hidden mold, structural damage, or denied claims down the line. We get called in all the time to fix incomplete or unsafe work — usually from companies that cut corners to give a low quote. Restoration isn’t just cleaning up a mess. It’s about following a proven process that protects your health, your home, and your insurance coverage. If your home was built before 1978 or if there are signs of asbestos, lead, or microbial growth, don’t risk hiring someone who isn’t licensed to handle it. The older the house, the higher the stakes — and the more important it is to hire a company that knows what they're doing. You can trust us to do the job by the book and fight for what you’re owed through your policy.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What is the risk level? Was your home built before 1978? If so, lead, asbestos, or structural issues may be present — and the company you hire should be trained to handle that safely. How long has the damage been there? The longer water sits, the worse the damage gets. Do I want a certified professional who follows protocol and documents every step? Is this an insurance claim, and have I filed it yet?
