What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I try to resolve everyone's problem within their budget, even if it means making a payment plan. I am new to Thumbtack so I am starting out with lower prices to gauge if the system works!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Usually, I meet the client, we go over the case, we devise a strategy and we come prepared to court!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been practicing law in Metro Detroit since 1993. Whatever your case is, believe me, I have seen worse! We will work through it and soon, you will look back at the time that you had this problem and thank yourself for hiring the right guy for the job!

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I had always been interested in the finer points of law. The differences between a (c)(8) motion and a (c)(10) motion. How mediation differs from arbitration. This attention to detail allows me to tell a judge that when the opposing counsel says "this is just like this other case," I can rattle off five ways that it is not the same!

What types of customers have you worked with?

Most of my clients, through the years, have been individuals and small businesses. I don't generally work with government or mega-companies. This is important because everyone has always wanted me to keep an eye on the fees. Clients don't generally complain about my fees.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I represented a guy who was sued for dog bite. He had no insurance so he hired me. What made this case interesting is that his dog did not actually bite anyone - some dog bit that guy but it was not my client's dog. result: Case dismissed and the other party had to repay my client's attorney fee!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

It would be really wise not to discuss your case on social media or with anyone who might repeat it. You never know who will come to court and quote you saying things that damage your case.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

To me, the main question is if the lawyer is someone you can deal with. Some lawyers speak in fancy legal-ese that no one understands. We are plain-English people here. We want you to understand us and to understand your case.
