Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
At Hanover Construction, we offer fair, transparent pricing based on the scope and complexity of each project. Every estimate is customized—no hidden fees, no surprises. We provide free consultations and are happy to walk you through different options to fit your budget. Larger or multi-phase projects may qualify for volume discounts.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We start with a free phone consultation or site visit to understand your goals, budget, and timeline. From there, we provide a detailed written estimate and answer any questions. Once approved, we schedule the work, maintain clear communication throughout the project, and ensure you're completely satisfied with the final result.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Our team has years of hands-on experience in excavation, landscape construction, drainage, and general contracting. We've completed manufacturer training for retaining wall systems and drainage products, and stay up to date with local permitting requirements and construction best practices in Connecticut.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started working in construction and landscaping as a teenager, helping with site work, drainage, and hardscape installs. Over time, I developed a passion for outdoor construction and saw an opportunity to build a company with my family that combines quality workmanship with honest, reliable service. That’s how Hanover Construction was born.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We work with homeowners, property managers, and small business owners. Whether it's a home renovation or addition, backyard drainage fix, a large excavation job, or a full outdoor living space, we treat every client with professionalism and respect—no matter the project size.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We recently completed a complete yard renovation project for a new homeowner with a young family in Newtown. They shared their vision for an outdoor oasis with some newly installed drainage and grading. We had our tree clearing partner remove trees and our staff performed excavation, dirt hauling, patio installation, deck and pergola installation, and hydroseeding. The project took about 3 weeks and turned a bland, overgrown, unusable area into a beautiful, functional space the family now enjoys every day.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure the contractor is licensed, insured, and has relevant experience and a project plan for the work needed on your property. Ask for photos of past work, and ensure they’re familiar with local building codes and design trends. Good communication is just as important as good craftsmanship, so the very first experience is indicative of the way your project will progress as well.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What is your desired outcome or goal for the space? Do you have a budget range in mind? Are there any drainage or grading issues to address? What timeline are you hoping for? Are permits required for your town or property type? Being clear on these questions helps us provide the best recommendations and most accurate estimate possible.
