Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I Charge $65/hr for typical handyman services but if the job takes an hour or less I charge a minimum of $100. For certain jobs that require me to leave and come back another day I will provide an estimate for the work before starting. For more complicated work I will provide an estimate beforehand.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
The first thing I like to do is greet my customer and let them know my soonest availability in case they need the work done asap. Next if I feel that there is more to discuss about the job, I will ask questions. Once all details are confirmed we will get a date and time scheduled for the work to be done. Then the day of the work, I will give a heads up call when I am on the way to the location.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have 5 years of experience installing shower door glass. In that time I have been in countless new build homes and am familiar with just about every step of building a home. I’ve also been a proud diy and have renovated many parts of my own home.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started doing this type of work at a young age. I always enjoyed my wood-shop classes and did projects around the house to help out. About 5 years ago an assistant role at a glass company fell into my lap, and with some previous construction experience I excelled. For the past 3 years I’ve installed hundreds, if not thousands of glass shower door enclosures as a Lead installer. Now I’d like to take it a step further and bring quality help to homeowners in my area.

What types of customers have you worked with?

Quality help is a brand that’s all about helping the homeowner. As a fellow homeowner I know repairs or home improvements can be overwhelming at times. I do my best to bring that help to you with fair, affordable prices and a quality result.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

A kitchen that I was asked to renovate recently was very satisfying. I was tasked with creating more space in the room to be able to fit a dishwasher. Before I started, I noticed there was a considerable amount of space with only a countertop occupying it. I knew that if I removed the old countertop and cabinets, I would be able to relocate the range/oven and fit a lazy Susan cabinet in those unoccupied corner spaces. After that I would be able to add a dishwasher to the other end of the future cabinets. So I got to work measuring and planning. The homeowner purchased unfinished cabinets for me to stain, which overall saved them money, as well as butcher block countertops that I would finish later on as well. While the cabinets were being delivered, I installed laminate flooring and applied brick veneer to the walls. Then I had an electrician relocate the range outlet and add a dedicated circuit for the dishwasher. The cabinets were delivered, so next was staining and applying polyurethane. Once they were finished, I cut holes for my plumbing/electrical lines then got them set and secured. The next step was to measure and cut the butcher block, including the sink opening. After some final sanding I applied a food safe finish to the butcher block. The final and most satisfying step was to install some trim and paint. The kitchen turned out beautiful and only took 4 weeks to accomplish.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
The best advice I can give to you, is to provide as much detail as you can about the work you would like done. Contractors accomplish work in lots of different ways sometimes, so providing specifics about the job can go a long way and you will more than likely be happier with the results

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Some important questions to consider before contacting me would include: 1. Do I have all the materials purchased or at least have a good idea of the materials needed for the project. 2. When will I be home for the professional to come and do the work. 3. What is the average price for said work? (Search online for ball park estimates)
