Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
First workout is FREE! When you get here we will introduce ourselves and discuss your limitations and goals. After that I will assess your movement in basic exercises. Once we finish the workout we can discuss what kind of plan may be right for you. Homework, lifestyle and nutrition coaching are included for FREE in ALL purchases. I have different purchase options based on commitment level and lifestyle. The more you workout, the more you save!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Once we connect online we can find a time to schedule your first FREE workout. Usually by the end of that first session or a few days after the trainee will select a purchase option (monthly, biweekly, package, or single). Once we have processed your payment we can book workouts and try to get you on a consistent schedule. I usually encourage clients to keep a food diary if nutrition and weight loss is something that they are interested in. I check the trainees diaries every week. We take measurements in the first week of the month, and run performance tests the last week of every month. After 4-8 weeks we should notice that you are trending towards your goals - if not then we tighten things up.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was active in sports as a kid, and I got into weight lifting in my adolescence, but my fitness career really sparked when I met my physical therapist in 2019. I was working a very repetitive job as a packer in a warehouse and I was doing a lot of yoga. I was strong and fit and seemingly out of nowhere my wrist started to really irritate me. At first I tried to manage the pain with generic pills and cutting down on work and the things I enjoy, but the pain only got worse each day. Finally, after about four months of increasing pain and decreasing quality of life I went to my primary physician who immediately diagnosed me with tendonitis, so I was referred to the orthopedic surgeon who I saw for a cortisone shot and steroids several times. The pain was the same or worse after every single "treatment". On the fourth visit with my orthopedic surgeon he proposed surgery on my thumb. I was only 21 years old at the time and that just seemed wrong to me. I had remembered that my boyfriend at the time had talked about previously having to go to physical therapy so I threw that idea out there and my surgeon said, "Oh yeah, I guess you could try physical therapy." I had been in pain for 6 months at this point so I was willing to try anything that would keep me from surgery. Every single time I left physical therapy I was in SIGNIFICANTLY LESS PAIN. I got a prescription of about 12 physical therapy 1 hour long sessions. These sessions included ridiculously easy "exercises", like pinching a clothespin. At first I was relieved to finally be out of pain and get back to working, back to the gym and enjoying my life but I eventually became frustrated. I thought to myself, "Why was that so complicated and shrouded in mystery? Everyone should know how to take care of their body, exercise should not be so confusing. Exercise and health should be more accessible for everyone." I decided I wanted to do something about it! So I quit my warehouse job, got a personal training certificate from NASM in 2021, just after covid. And I started to make career decisions around this idea of helping to make general health and exercise more accessible to people who are lost and confused. I was already weight lifting at the time, but after going through this experience I realized just how powerful movement can be, and how healing it can be. And now I can't wait to share what I have learned with everyone!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with almost every age group before. 30's-60's: this is the vast majority of my clientele. I have noticed older folks do seem to enjoy my laid back attitude - I'm not the type of trainer who is going to scream like a drill sergeant the whole time. I may push you when you need it but I lean into your personal preferences most of the time. Teenagers and Early 20's: I have had a handful of these clients but they are usually short term clients because they go back to school or whatever. Kids: always fun to work with. I love watching them learn!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We are wrapping up the end of the year and I have several clients that I have trained for the full year now, who are now pain free and at their goal weight! So that is great! Now we have to set new goals! And I have a few clients that I have only had since the fall and every single one of them is trending in the right direction. We have achieved some of their goals and they are still making great progress on their other objectives - even after all of the holidays! So I am proud that everyone is still on track!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
You can start right now. You don't need anyone. Set goals, set a schedule - you want 3-6 workouts / week, and start doing something physical in that window of time. You can go for a walk, follow a youtube living room workout, or you can hire a trainer if you want. Whatever lane you pick make sure its something that you can conveniently apply to your schedule regularly. For example, if you sign up for a gym that is 45 minutes away, you probably won't use it as much as you need to - plus who wants to travel for 90 minutes for one workout? Not me.... So find something convenient! Something you will actually do and eventually find enjoyable in some way! And go ahead and start a food diary - that will be the first step of any nutrition coaching anyway and it will help if you are already in the habit. Plus most of my clients immediately start eating better when they know they have to actually track it. Honestly just start moving!!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Just go ahead and reach out dude. You gotta start somewhere so just start! If you need to hire help then hire the help! I promise it will be a good investment. It would be good to have an idea of what goals you want to achieve and what kind of schedule you have, but that can be chiseled out later. And your trainer can definitely help you select goals if you are not sure.
