Introduction

I am passionate about sharing the benefits of yoga with women 55+ who are new to yoga, think yoga isn't for them, or are living with chronic pain. I offer stretching, strengthening, simple meditation, breath work, and fall prevention -- all 100% customized to my clients needs and goals. I am an adept at offering customizations so that every client can experience the benefits of yoga in their unique body. I travel around coastal North San Diego County with a variety of props, calming music, and a warm and friendly attitude to help women feel better in their bodies and their minds.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My hourly rate is $150. I strongly recommend people book a minimum of 10 sessions with me in order to truly notice the benefits of yoga. A 10-session package is 20% off, so you pay just $1,200. I am happy to accept payment in two installments if preferred.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We first schedule a free 30-minute consultation call (or Zoom). I will ask about goals (e.g. de-stressing, flexibility, balance) and any previous or current movement you engage in. Then you have the opportunity to ask me questions!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have been studying yoga since 2016. I have taken many anatomy trainings since most of my clients are living with any number of physical challenges. I am happy to lead movements that are standing, seated in a chair, down on the ground, or a combination.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I attended my first yoga class hoping to bring some calm to my mind. As I practiced more, I also started to experience physical benefits such as greater mobility, better balance, and even some strength. As a former trainer, it has been an absolute joy to combine my love of teaching and my love of yoga to share the benefits of yoga with women who don't typically want to go to a yoga studio.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with mothers and babies, Girl Scouts, teenagers, young adults, women in mid-life, and those in their golden years. My favorite client is a woman who thinks she can't do yoga: she may have limited mobility, be in a larger body, has had a joint (or two!) replaced, has arthritis or osteoporosis, or doesn't want to get down on the ground. These are my people!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I have been working with a 60-ish-year-old woman online for going on two years. When we first "met" she had recently had a hip replacement. Unfortunately, the surgery had not gone well and she had to have the surgery again. For over a year we worked together (her in Virginia; me in California) to build as much flexibility and strength as possible in anticipation of her second surgery. Her surgery went beautifully and she was recently released by her surgeon! I truly believe that her commitment to do everything she could to help her body before surgery was integral to her wonderful recovery.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Interview potential yoga teachers -- we are not all alike! If you are living with chronic pain, have had a joint replacement, or afraid of falling, it is very important to work with someone who has studied the human body in detail and can customize yoga poses for your unique needs. Most yoga studio teachers are skilled at offering challenging yoga poses for just the most bendy folks. This can be very frustrating for someone who just wants to feel better in their bodies. Hiring a private yoga teacher who is expert in customizations is the best route to take.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Think about why you want to try yoga: do you want to focus on breath work and meditation to de-stress and sleep better? Are you looking to stretch out tight areas of your body? Perhaps you'd like to get stronger and prevent falls. It is very helpful to think about what you hope to accomplish. A good private yoga teacher can help you reach your goals!
