Introduction

Hello! I am a Los Angeles-based yoga teacher who recently relocated to the east coast. Please keep reading to get my thoughts on teaching and the unique qualities of yoga. Yoga is not a one-size-fits-all practice. I use the one-on-one setting to tailor a session that matches my clients needs. I greatly encourage the intelligent use of props to enhance the effect of the practice. My clients are quite varied- office workers, martial arts students, seasoned yoga practitioners, body builders, chefs and so on. This is a testament to the effectiveness of yoga for anyone and everyone. The term "therapeutics" is overused these days, but what I will say is my goal with yoga is to lead students toward space in their body. Ultimately this often translates to a certain healing. Students come to me with varied circumstance, but a few common ones are: Lumbar/sacral pain Frozen shoulder/rotator cuff injuries Knee considerations including ligament/tendon tears and dislocation Hypermobility/a need for strength training Neck injuries, often stemming from past car accidents All the various circumstances brought upon by extended hours sitting in front of a computer. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

The quoted rate is my base rate and does not include travel fees. Depending on location/travel time an additional cost may be applied.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Whenever I begin with a new client, the initial session is used to make an assessment of their various physical circumstances. From then on, the sessions are designed around both my observations and interactions with clients. The physical body is not the only point of interest. What people do for work, their energetic/emotional state, breath patterns etc. all play a key role in how I teach. No two clients are taught the same way.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have done multiple teacher trainings, as well as continuing education courses. Beyond that, I work closely with my mentor and who has been teaching for over 40 years. The education never stops.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I first encountered yoga in middle school. From then on I would jump on and off the yoga train for about 10 years. When I first moved to Los Angeles 11 years ago I began taking classes with the man who is now my mentor. His depth of knowledge inspired me to walk down the teaching path. I take great joy in both teaching and being a life-long student.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with many different body and personality types. Athletes, chefs, martial artists, parents, grandparents, kids, other teachers and so on. Some folks who have a very strong understanding of their physicality, and others who are newer to movement. Yoga has no boundary.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Be okay with being new to something.
