Introduction

Everyone can benefit from practicing yoga. Everyone. I work with people that want to increase their wellness and decrease stress effects....professionals, young parents, small-business owners, and even retired individuals to bring balance back into the everyday enjoyment of life. We start where you are and take small but efficient steps in the right direction toward deeper relaxation, better fitness, sleep and enhanced well being. With over 995 hours of yoga training and 24 years of teaching all types and kinds of students, perspective, compassion and gratitude flows through my yoga instruction. Sometimes people worry that they can't "DO YOGA." because they are not flexible....Instead, I teach a harmony between mobility, stamina, and core strength. I am a member of International Association of Yoga Therapists Seeing my clients progress makes my yoga career rewarding and inspiring. As an active student myself, I bring fresh energy and updated information to add acumen and “yoga tool kit" I love to customize my clients sessions to bring immediate and profound results to the individual’s unique situation that day. Scroll down to Frequently Ask Questions to see pricing for in-person private studio and yoga therapy sessions. Regardless, we both will wash our hands before practice. I sanitize all props and blankets. I follow CDC guidelines.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Fully Vaccinated & boosted. Still safety oriented for your health! My Studio or your place* one on one: 4 studio session package is $180.00. This pass plan provides a scheduled commitment from the student and I based on our mutual availabilty... within a 4 to 6 week time frame. This is more like a compact, but profound, personalized course. We move step by step in the right direction, with quicker adoption of the yoga benefits. Should you prefer an evening class that's 45 minutes instead of 60...we can discuss a slightly lower rate. or...Private instruction/session, $63 session is 75 minutes to get to know one another, 60 minutes thereafter. *Depending on your address there may be an added travel fee. Let's chat for a quote. Note: You can also bring a friend and split the cost. Small Group Class. After you have had a few privates, you can join one of the small group classes or form one of your own. They are booked on a month to month at $100 for four to five sessions. There is usually 2 to 3 students. My private studio has free parking, clean floor, air and mats and props. It is really close to Giant Eagle Market District in Bethel Park.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Our first session will include a extra 15 minutes to talk about objectives, challenges and general health. We will also take a good look at breath work (pranayama). We will go through fundamentals and as soon as mastered, we move into work that adds finesse and enhanced benefits. I find most new customers are anxious about what will happen? can they do it?, will they get hurt, or embarrassed? I have a phone call before our first session makes everyone much more comfortable with the experience. Some clients come for one or two private sessions either to tune up what they need to know to practice safely at home or to join a group class at a public studio or "gym" where there is much less watchful instruction.I have clients that have come to private customized lessons for over 5 years. I encourage my students/client to practice at home...some will, some won't. But just 10 to 15 minutes a few times a week brings you agency and enhanced results. I say, "when you think you've learned what you can from me...fire me and find another qualified teacher."

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Over the last 23 years, I have certified in many teacher training styles including studies in Iyengar, Vinyasa, Anusara, and Hatha. I also have a certification in Shoden level of Reiki. I have a certificate of completion from UPMC's course in Mindful Based Stress Reduction. I am currently studying the newer research with Tom Meyer's on fascial system and how it impacts mind, body, and restriction. Over the years, I have spent more money on my continuing yoga education that I did on my master's degree. I am committed to life-long learning. Certified up to date on CPR and First Aid.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Short answer: After practicing yoga for fifteen years, I decided to take a 500 hour year-long teacher training program to dive in deeper and look for more effective ways to alleviate my stressful corporate work which had resulted in back pain. It worked... Since that certification in 2000, I have enjoyed sharing the benefits of yoga wellness. If you'd like the longer version, give me a call. LOL.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Ages 35-78. All shapes and sizes... I have and have had numerous clients that have sought the relief benefits of yoga from MS., Sciatica, Chronic Headaches and Chronic Back Pain. Some clients are brand new to yoga and to any exercise of wellness program, but they realize they want to change. Some people want specific yoga instruction and feedback, one can’t get from a group setting. First 12 years of teaching yoga in a studio were at the Rivers Club Downtown, while I was a marketing VP just down the street. There I started teaching to professional services people such as attorneys' and CPAs. Since then, I have been teaching young parents, other professionals, business owners, and newly retired people. I have and have had numerous private one on one clients that have sought the relief benefits of yoga from MS., Sciatica, Chronic Headaches and Chronic Back Pain.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I have quite a few...physicians have been clients, but ask me this in an intro call.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
1) First and foremost, find a certified teacher with at least 10- 15 years of teaching experience. The body and mind connection is a complex thing, and it takes years of teaching practice to become proficient. There are numerous new teachers with a certification that was under 200hrs or "earned over a weekend." However, using a variety of adult learning principles takes time to hone. 2) Set up a phone call, and talk candidly about what you are looking for and why?

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Can I practice just 10 to 15 minutes 2-3 times a week...minimum? Do I want to be taught customized yoga based on my particular body/mind needs or would prefer to be led in a group class, and have a little more anonymity?
