Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
The Sprinkler Guru is veteran-owned and locally operated. I pride myself on providing honest pricing, quality work, and clear communication every step of the way.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
My typical process is simple and straightforward: First, I contact the customer to learn about the issue and schedule a convenient time for an on-site visit. When I arrive, I’ll inspect the system, identify the problem, and provide a clear, written estimate before any work begins. If the customer approves, I usually complete the repair on the spot. I always explain what was fixed and offer tips to keep the system running efficiently. Communication, honesty, and respect for the customer’s time are my priorities from start to finish.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I’m a licensed irrigatior in Texas, trained in diagnosing and repairing residential and commercial sprinkler systems. I also completed hands-on training with experienced professionals and stay updated on local codes, water conservation practices, and the latest smart irrigation technologies. I currently hold a Texas irrigator License, license number 0030454

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands, solving problems, and helping others — and irrigation was a natural fit. I trained under experienced professionals, earned my license, and eventually decided to start the Sprinkler Guru to bring reliable, affordable service to my local community. Being a veteran taught me discipline, attention to detail, and the importance of doing the job right the first time — and that’s exactly how I approach every project.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Most of my customers are homeowners who need help with broken sprinkler heads, broken backflow devices due to freezing temperatures, leaky valves, controller issues, or full system tune-ups. I’ve worked with first-time homeowners, busy families, landlords managing rental properties, and seniors who need someone they can trust. Whether it’s a small fix or a full diagnostic, I treat every customer with respect and always explain the work in simple terms.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A customer contacted me because one zone of their sprinkler system wouldn’t shut off, and water was constantly running. I came out the same day, quickly diagnosed it as a stuck valve, and replaced it with a high-quality part I had on-hand. While I was there, I also inspected the rest of the system, adjusted a few misaligned heads, and programmed their controller for better water efficiency. The whole job took about 2 hours, and the customer really appreciated how fast I resolved the issue without trying to upsell them. They left me a 5-star review that same evening.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure the provider is experienced with your specific type of irrigation system — not just landscaping in general. Ask if they’re licensed, if they carry replacement parts with them, and whether they offer a warranty on their work. A good irrigation pro should take time to explain the issue, offer clear pricing, and not pressure you into unnecessary repairs. Also, check reviews — reliability and communication are just as important as skill.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Before talking to a professional, customers should think about where and when they’re noticing problems — like low pressure, dry spots, or leaking heads. It also helps to know how old the system is, when it was last serviced, and whether they want any upgrades like smart controllers. Even if they don’t have all the answers, having a general idea of what’s wrong helps us diagnose and fix it faster. Photos or a short video of the problem area can also save time — I can often spot the issue before I even show up.
