Watching my students learn and become more accomplished gets me excited! Maybe it's because I love to learn, but I get energized when I can see my students learning! This makes me eager to teach all my students!

Q&A

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

With voice students, I like to know about any singing experience they have, such as choirs or musicals, etc. If they are in choir, I want to know what part they sing and if they can read music. With piano students, I want to know what type of instrument they have at home to practice on, and if anyone else in their family has any musical experience.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I belong to several groups of piano and voice teachers who share ideas and strategies as well as repertoire.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I have a degree in Music Education as well as a degree in Psychology and accompanied another voice teacher's private students so I learned how to teach private students. I worked for another studio before I opened my own.

What types of customers have you worked with?

My students have ranged in age from age 6 to age 87.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Some of my students participate in a contest each March. This year they received compliments such as "an impressive performance", "You are a skilled pianist" and "Bravo".

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I believe the student/teacher relationship needs to be a good "fit". Personalities should be similar or at least complimentary.
